Railway RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 — Level 1 Posts

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) released the official notification on 30 January 2026 for 22,195 Group D (Level 1) posts across all railway zones in India. This is one of the BIGGEST Government recruitment drives of 2026. The application window opened on 31 January 2026 and was extended to 09 March 2026. Correction window: 12–21 March 2026. Exam expected in May–June 2026.

Group D posts include Track Maintainer, Pointsman, Assistant (Track Machine, Bridge, C&W, TRD, S&T), Assistant Loco Shed, Assistant Operations, and more — spread across all Indian Railway Zones including CR, ER, ECR, ECoR, NR, NCR, NER, NFR, NWR, SR, SCR, SER, SECR, SWR, WR & WCR.

  HOW TO APPLY — STEP BY STEP  

  ▶  Step 1: Visit the official RRB website: rrbapply.gov.in or your region's RRB website (e.g., rrbcdg.gov.in, rrbchennai.gov.in, etc.)

  ▶  Step 2: Click on 'New Registration' and register with your valid Email ID and Mobile Number.

  ▶  Step 3: Note your Registration Number and Password carefully.

  ▶  Step 4: Login and fill the application form with personal details (Name, DOB, Father/Mother name exactly as per 10th Marksheet).

  ▶  Step 5: Fill educational qualification, category, PwBD status and ex-serviceman details (if applicable).

  ▶  Step 6: Upload scanned Photo (20–50 KB) and Signature (10–40 KB) in JPG/JPEG format.

  ▶  Step 7: Pay the application fee online via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, IMPS, or UPI.

  ▶  Step 8: Preview the filled application form carefully before final submission.

  ▶  Step 9: Submit the form and download/print the confirmation page.

  ▶  Step 10: Keep fee payment receipt and confirmation page safely for future reference.

  ▶  Important: Fill Name, DOB, and parents' names EXACTLY as per 10th Marksheet to avoid rejection.

  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS  

Can 10th fail candidates apply?No. Candidates must have passed Class 10th from a recognized board.
Is there an interview?No interview. Selection is based on CBT + PET + Medical only.
Is the PET qualifying or merit-based?PET is qualifying in nature. Marks of PET are NOT added to merit list.
What is the age relaxation for OBC?3 additional years — maximum age becomes 36 years.
Can candidates apply for multiple RRBs?No. Candidates can apply for only ONE RRB region. Application in multiple RRBs will lead to disqualification.
When will the CBT exam be held?Expected in May–June 2026. Exact dates will be notified on the official website.
What is the medium of exam?Available in 15 languages: Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu.
